In 2004, the hosting club, the FT 1844 Freiburg, together with the German Roller Skating and Inline Association (Deutschen Rollsport- und Inlineverband, DRIV) won the bid to host the 54th World Roller Figure Skating Championships. The executive committee of the World Artistic Roller Skating Association (CIPA) put all their trust in the Freiburg organizers. Hosting the world title competitions poses a great challenge for all those organizers active in the club and the national association, a challenge that can only be met with the help of many diligent helpers.
