Competitions
The 54th World Roller Figure Skating Championships were the sporting highlight in the calendar year of the artistic roller skater. The World Title Competitions took place from November 10 to 21, 2009 in beautiful Freiburg and attracted close to 1,000 athletes from 26 nations to the Breisgau metropolis.
Artistic roller skating is a fascinating sport, brilliantly combining athletics and aesthetics. High, well-executed jumps, dance elements and electrifying choreography are only some of the trimmings which with the athletes enchanted the audience. The various disciplines ranging from Solo Dancing to the Single and Pair Skating right up to the Formations and Show Groups provided quite a bit of variety during the almost 2-week long World Championships.
Both the juniors and the senior classes competed at the 54th World Roller Figure Skating Championships in Freiburg. The heats of both classes were carried out at two different venues within Freiburg. While the juniors do their thing in the Schauenberg Hall at the FT-Sportpark, the senior class - with the
exception of the obligatory heats, also took place in the Schauenberg Hall - establish and award their winners at the "Messe Freiburg".
